It was alright I guess…
It was shocking for the first 60 pages or so but after that it became weird, sad, funny but also repetitive.
H.H. is a deeply troubled man who doesn’t realize that some of his thoughts, desires, and opinions are quite delusional. Sometimes on the same page he goes from having a keen observation of a social interaction to “these nymphets are so arousing damn their magical powers over me!”.
And once it becomes repetitive it was kind of funny how predictable H.H. became.
Honestly thought, I read it because a friend said she thought it was quite shocking and made her stop reading. That is what enticed me to read it. I have no interest in learning what a pedophile/hebephile thinks. there weren’t really any parts of it I fondly remember. There are some notably shocking and “funny” parts which I sadly do remember and will shortly mention here:
The part where H.H. describes what a nymphet is, why they are what they are, and explains why only some can recognize them.
The part where he thanks the good of chance for killing Dolores’ mother in a car accident and later where he fears tempting them by entering certain scenarios.
